Australian Energy Storage Database Project

The Australian Energy Storage Database provided a comprehensive listing of commercial and utility scale energy storage projects across 60 countries, with their key uses to address challenges on the grid.

Overview

Energy storage is an essential element driving change towards a cleaner energy future. It is key to areas such as on-grid and off-grid energy management, micro grids for remote and mining communities, as well as electric vehicles and advanced systems for managing the energy of buildings.

The Australian Energy Storage Alliance
(AESA) is an information sharing and networking platform to promote the wide range of existing and emerging energy storage solutions that are available in Australia.

AES Alliance and the NSW Energy and Resources Knowledge Hub, with support from NSW Government, launched a publicly accessible Australian Energy Storage Database (AESDB) in 2016, providing access to and information on 1,400 energy storage projects across 60 countries.

The AESDB is no longer available.

The Australian portal extended the reach of the Global Energy Storage Database, and was a resource for investors, developers, planners, policy makers and researchers. The AESDB provided a comprehensive listing of commercial and utility scale energy storage projects and their key uses to address challenges on the grid.

The AESDB was a portal to the Global Energy Storage Database developed by the United States Department of Energy, Office of Electricity Delivery & Energy Reliability and Sandia National Laboratories.
