Australian cleantech startups invited to test Indian market with hands-on support
Round 3 of the RISE Accelerator is now open to Australian startups and SMEs working on renewable energy innovations, offering a staged program with market access support, coaching, and up to $135,000 in non-equity funding.

Applications are now open for Round 3 of the India Australia Rapid Innovation and Startup Expansion (RISE) Accelerator, which is inviting Australian startups and small to medium-sized businesses to take part in a renewable energy-focused program supporting entry into the Indian market.
This latest round is seeking technology-driven solutions for challenges in clean energy manufacturing, storage, and management. Areas of interest include solar, battery systems, wind, and hydrogen.
The RISE Accelerator is part of efforts to increase collaboration between Australian and Indian businesses and researchers, with a focus on clean technology and sustainability. The program was launched as part of the Australian Government’s updated India Economic Strategy to 2035 and is intended to build practical links between science and technology organisations in both countries.
Delivered by Australia’s national science agency CSIRO in partnership with India’s Atal Innovation Mission, the program is designed to help participants understand and access opportunities in India’s growing renewable energy sector.
Split into two parts, the RISE Accelerator includes: a Discovery Phase and, for selected businesses, a Pilot Phase. During the Discovery Phase, around 20 selected Australian companies will receive tailored coaching, connections to potential partners, and access to a structured learning program focused on Indian market conditions. A grant of up to $35,000 is available to support participation and required travel.
After completing the Discovery Phase, some companies may be invited to continue into the Pilot Phase, which provides a further grant of up to $100,000. This stage is aimed at testing or launching a commercial or research project in India.
The total funding available per participant across both phases is up to $135,000, provided performance requirements and program deliverables are met.
Startups and SMEs considering applying should ensure their technology is ready for international expansion and that it contributes to addressing shared environmental or energy challenges. Applications for Round 3 close at 11:30pm AEST on Monday, 30 June 2025.
