Australia’s COP30 Pavilion seeks local voices on climate action
Australians working on climate action have the chance to propose events for the country’s pavilion at COP30 in Brazil and apply for entry to the summit through an overflow badge process.

Australians from all walks of life are being encouraged to share ideas and stories for inclusion in the country’s official presence at COP30, the United Nations climate conference taking place in Belém, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025.
The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is calling for event proposals for the Australian Pavilion. These proposals can come from communities, researchers, businesses or organisations working on climate action, and should demonstrate local solutions contributing to the broader net zero transition.
The department is particularly interested in submissions that reflect collaboration with the Pacific and that include First Nations knowledge and leadership.
The Australian Pavilion at COP30 will serve as a space for visitors to connect, exchange ideas, and explore how different regions are responding to climate change. Proposals that reflect creative approaches or new partnerships are especially encouraged.
Ideas can be submitted online via the Engagement Hub by completing the COP30 Event Expression of Interest form. Submissions close at the end of Wednesday 6 August 2025.
A separate opportunity is available for individuals and organisations wishing to attend the COP30 conference itself. Applications are now open for Australian Party Overflow Badges, which grant access to both the public (green) and negotiation (blue) zones of the summit.
These badges are limited and preference will be given to applicants who are already working on Australian climate initiatives or involved in UN climate processes. Each organisation may request up to four badges. Applications for overflow badges must be submitted by Wednesday 1 October 2025.
It’s important to note that the overflow badge does not make someone part of the official Australian delegation and does not provide any funding support. Anyone approved for a badge must manage and fund their own travel and accommodation.
