The 2025 REIIF is set to return to Dubbo from 18–20 June, offering a space for government, industry, and community leaders to explore the future of energy and industry in regional Australia. Hosted at Taronga Western Plains Zoo, the event is expected to draw attention to how energy and resource innovation is evolving in inland regions, particularly in the Orana and Central West areas of New South Wales.

Day 1 will open with updates on local projects and feature three panel discussions focused on energy, resources, workforce, and migration. Among the scheduled speakers are EnergyCo CEO Hannah McCaughey, ACEREZ’s Robert Armstrong, and Dubbo Regional Council CEO Murray Wood. These sessions will examine the emerging challenges and opportunities related to regional development, energy transformation, and planning for a future workforce.

A new feature of this year’s forum is the Energy + Circularity Summit on Day 2, held in partnership with the Circular PV Alliance. This day will explore the shift from linear production models to a circular approach in the energy sector. Attendees will hear from speakers such as Michelle McCann from PV Lab Australia and Katharine Hole from the Association for the Battery Recycling Industry, among others. Discussions will centre on what’s needed across government, business, and community to create a more sustainable energy system. The day will end with the collaborative creation of a regional action plan aimed at supporting long-term change.

The final day will take attendees out into the field for a tour of local energy and industry projects, giving participants a close-up look at how the region is adapting and investing in cleaner technologies.

REIIF is coordinated by Regional Development Australia Orana and aims to ensure regional NSW remains well-positioned to take advantage of renewable energy zones and emerging technology. The forum also places a strong focus on building local capacity and job opportunities through better coordination across sectors and communities.

Early bird tickets are available until 31 May, with the full program now downloadable online.
