I2N Cleantech Accelerator opens for 2025 cohort

The I2N Cleantech Accelerator returns in July 2025, helping entrepreneurs develop scalable, tech-enabled cleantech ventures.

Ideation

Applications are now open for the 2025 I2N Cleantech Accelerator, a 13-week program supporting early-stage founders from the Hunter and Central Coast regions who are building businesses in clean energy, recycling, water, transport, supply chains, and related sectors.

The accelerator is run by the University of Newcastle’s Integrated Innovation Network (I2N) and is open to all founders, not just those affiliated with the university. Its aim is to help local startups develop competitive, tech-enabled solutions that contribute to the region’s economy and environment.

Startups have until Sunday, 6 July to apply for the next intake, which starts with a two-day bootcamp on 23–24 July. The full accelerator phase runs from 11 August to 5 November, followed by optional incubator support through to 30 June 2026.

Founders accepted into the program will gain access to mentoring, expert advice, and partner networks.

Up to 12 teams will be selected to join this year’s cohort. Participants must have a business idea based on new-to-market technology and be committed to scaling. The program is designed for companies at the pre-series A stage and does not accept agencies or consultancies.

While the University of Newcastle hosts the program, it does not claim ownership over the intellectual property developed through participation—another key point of interest for tech founders.

The I2N Cleantech Accelerator draws on a growing support base in the region, including partnerships with the Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy, the Central Coast Health & Wellbeing Living Lab, and intellectual property firm Davies Collison Cave, who offer IP and trademark support to all selected founders.
