The campaign for expanded vocational education in the Hunter

Join Hunter Jobs Alliance as they campaign for a TAFE New Industries Training Centre to build the clean energy workforce, support workers in traditional industries and attract new industries to the Hunter.

TAFE training

The Hunter region is experiencing significant investments in renewable energy projects, industry decarbonization, and emerging sectors like battery manufacturing, green hydrogen, and offshore wind. By capitalizing on these opportunities, we have the potential to become a global leader in clean energy and manufacturing.

To ensure the realization of this future, it is crucial to have a workforce equipped with the necessary skills to fill existing gaps and attract additional investments. Hunter Jobs Alliance believe it is imperative for the government to allocate funding towards high-quality vocational education, ideally through the establishment of a TAFE New Industries Training Centre.

A public meeting sponsored by Hunter Jobs Alliance will be held at Rutherford on the evening of Wednesday July 12. You are invited to attend and listen to experts and local stakeholders as they discuss the training centre proposal, as well as the Hunter Jobs Alliance campaign, which strives to secure this important investment for our region.

Guest speaker:

Chris Briggs - Research Director and Energy Futures Program Lead at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney; and Technical Director, Business Renewables Centre-Australia.
