13th Annual Jameson Distinguished Lecture - Tilting the Curve: The Mavrik Step Change in Classification That Unlocks Operating Value
A celebration of the region’s rich mineral processing heritage, the lecture is named in honour of Professor Graeme Jameson, inventor of the Jameson Cell, who lives locally and remains proudly associated with the lecture series.
This year, the Lecture will be presented by Paul Revell, who will describe the design of a new inverted hydrocyclone cluster, built by his OEM partner and successfully installed and commissioned at an existing processing plant in Latin America.He will describe the processes, challenges, limitations and some of the results. He is keenly focussed on how to reduce energy usage and water intensity for clients who are on the pathway to Net Zero.
The talk will outline the fluid dynamics that make semi-inverted classification possible, the proprietary engineering required to stabilise cyclone operation at inclined angles, and the resulting performance signature — a hydrocyclone that classifies with the sharpness of a wet screen at the throughput capacity of a conventional hydrocyclone.
The lecture will close with examples of a de-risking and opportunity assessment pathway from simulation and ore-specific verification through to full-scale, no-downtime installation that operators can use to evaluate and capture this opportunity in their own circuits.
