Austmine Member Site Tour & Drinks at NIER

Join Austmine for a fantastic evening of networking and discovering the world-class facilities and research at NIER

Austmine is pleased to partner with the Newcastle Institute for Energy & Resources (NIER) for their next Newcastle members networking event.

The event will begin with a site tour of NIER by Dr. Timothy Donohue, General Manager, TUNRA Bulk Solids. The NIER research precinct supports researchers and industry partners in purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities unrivalled in Australia. NIER includes extensive mineral, chemical and related technical laboratories, offices and five industrial-scale pilot plant workshops.

There will then be a presentation by Prof. Alan Broadfoot, Executive Director, NIER about the opportunities for industry to access world-class research and commercialisation opportunities through the Innovation Launchpad and METS Doctoral Training Centre (DTC). The Innovation Launchpad, an initiative of the NSW Energy and Resources Knowledge Hub, provides an opportunity for scale-up SMEs to work with world-class researchers at NIER to test, pilot and demonstrate new technology. Participating businesses are embedded within a NIER research group, and given access to the collaborative office space and industrial research infrastructure, where they work together to find innovative solutions to real world challenges.

The event will conclude with networking drinks and canapes to help build relationships within the local METS sector. This event will facilitate discussion of local issues, enhance collaboration, provide partnership avenues and learning opportunities from other leaders in the sector.
