To kick off their 2024 Smart Mining Networking Event Series in NSW, Austmine will focus on the Coal sector, and it’s benefits to the NSW and Australian economic and social fabric.

At this event, Austmine is pleased to host Cam Halfpenny, General Manager, Bengalla Mining Company, who will share his industry insights and expertise with attendees. We hope you can join us to hear Cam’s insights.

The Bengalla Mine is an open cut coal mine located south-west of Muswellbrook. Bengalla Mining Company supplies international markets with thermal coal, with employees working shifts to keep the mine operational 24/7. The operation is located in a Permian basin called the Sydney basin and mines the Whittingham Coal Measures of the Hunter Coalfields.

This event is a perfect opportunity for industry professionals to connect and build new relationships, while also gaining valuable insights from one of the industry's leading experts.

Speaker: Cam Halfpenny, General Manager - Bengalla Mining Company

Cam joined New Hope Group in 2016 as CEO of Bengalla Mining Company, later becoming GM Bengalla as New Hope Group increased their shareholding in Bengalla.

Cam has 40 years of global mining experience, having worked for Rio Tinto in operational roles across Australia, Indonesia and the United States of America. Cam has also worked in roles supporting Rio Tinto’s Productivity Improvement across their global operations, including digital mining/processing applications.
Cam holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland, MBA from Warwick University (UK), Graduate Diploma Applied Finance ASIC, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and current NSW Mine Manager and OCE tickets.
