Business Hunter 140th Anniversary Lunch with Premier Chris Minns
In 1886, a small group of business leaders gathered at Newcastle’s Great Northern Hotel with a shared ambition: To create a unified voice for commerce in a growing region.
From that meeting, the Hunter Business Chamber was formed, now known as Business Hunter.
In 2026, Business Hunter marks 140 years of representing and advocating for business across the Hunter region. Over more than a century, the organisation has supported business through periods of growth, transition and change, maintaining a consistent purpose of connection, advocacy and regional leadership.
To commemorate this significant milestone, Business Hunter invites members and stakeholders to a celebratory anniversary lunch with NSW Premier Chris Minns.
This occasion is designed as a moment of reflection. Recognising the legacy of Business Hunter, the contribution of generations of business leaders, and the role business has played in shaping the Hunter’s economic and social fabric. It is also an opportunity to come together as a business community to acknowledge the strength that comes from collective action and long‑standing relationships.
Premier Minns will join guests in acknowledging Business Hunter’s enduring role as a trusted voice for the region’s business community, and the importance of continued collaboration between business and government.
The lunch will bring together long‑standing members, partners, stakeholders and decision‑makers to celebrate 140 years of connection, advocacy and regional impact.
