As New South Wales faces growing demand for better infrastructure delivery, productivity and value for money have never been more important. With major projects under pressure from rising costs, policy delays, and shifting expectations, the question is simple: how do we get better outcomes, faster?

At their upcoming Infrastructure Lunch, Business Hunter is pleased to welcome Peter Achterstraat AM, NSW Productivity and Equality Commissioner, as keynote speaker.

Peter brings deep experience across public finance, taxation, regulation and infrastructure. He served as NSW Auditor-General for seven years, was Chief Commissioner of State Revenue, and has held leadership roles with the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and the Sydney Financial Forum. In his current role, he leads efforts to lift productivity across both public and private sectors in New South Wales, with a growing focus on how policy and regulation can better support long-term economic performance.

The NSW Productivity and Equality Commission’s most recent paper outlines how adopting more flexible, trial-based approaches to regulation can improve infrastructure planning and delivery. It highlights how small-scale testing, such as before-and-after comparisons or pilot trials, can help cut costs, reduce red tape, and improve outcomes before policies are rolled out at scale.

This is your opportunity to:

  • Gain an understanding of the NSW Productivity Commission’s work in relation to regulatory reform.
  • Gain an insight into the Productivity Commission’s work on:
  • Building more homes where people want to live
  • Building more homes where infrastructure costs less
  • Connect with senior business and government leaders shaping the future of the region

If you work in infrastructure, planning, policy or project delivery, this session offers timely and practical insight into how the system is changing, and what that means for the Hunter.

Secure your seat today. Early bird tickets are available for a limited time.
