CANCELLED Creating your own journey in Engineering

In celebration of International Women's Day HunterWiSE invite you to their morning tea with the amazing, Professor Elizabeth Croft.

Hunter Wi SE

Professor Croft believes we have entered the age of technology; a time in our existence on Earth where engineers will make the difference in tackling some of the most difficult challenges facing humanity: climate change, water, energy, and sustainability issues.

With rates of women entering STEM degrees remaining low, Professor Croft believes we are missing out on harnessing one half of the population's brain power to overcome these problems. As she says, "We need diversity to come up with the best solutions".

The time is right for women to step into STEM with confidence and begin creating their own journey in engineering, it's just a matter of knowing how to do it.

Professor Croft is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Professor in the Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering at Monash University.

She is recognised internationally as an expert in the field of human-robot interaction, and was previously the principal investigator at a world-class robotics lab at the University of British Columbia.

Professor Croft is also focused on the promotion of women in STEM, and as the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, she worked on comprehensive strategies to improve women’s participation and retention in the STEM disciplines at all levels.
