Diesel Particulate Matter Forum – Underground Coal
The Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) Forum – Underground Coal provides a dedicated platform for underground mine operators, technical specialists, and the Regulator to exchange insights on current control measures, identify emerging challenges, and explore practical opportunities for improvement.
This collaborative forum supports the industry’s transition toward higher order controls and enhances preparedness for the forthcoming reduced exposure standards. The forum will include consideration of both DPM and gases from diesel engine exhaust.
Key focus areas include:
- improving consistency in control implementation across sites
- increasing awareness of effective engineering and administrative controls
- enhancing monitoring and reporting capability
- strengthening industry understanding of regulatory expectations
- identifying barriers to compliance early (e.g., equipment availability, workforce capability, cost constraints).
Who should attend?
DPM / diesel exhaust management is a team effort, and therefore a cross section from the site would benefit:
- Mechanical Engineering Managers
- Health and Safety Managers
- Occupational Hygienists
- Ventilation Officers
Participation in this forum contributes to the ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for holders of practising certificates. Attendees are encouraged to engage actively, share operational experiences, and contribute to informed technical discussions that support improved outcomes across the industry.
