The Energy Storage Summit Australia returns to Sydney in 2026, continuing to drive conversations around Australia’s transition to 100% renewables and its emergence as a global green superpower. With energy storage at the core of this transformation, the third edition of the Summit will continue to tackle key challenges and opportunities in one of the world’s most volatile energy markets.

With significant progress in the Capacity Investment Scheme tenders, Tender Two successfully secured 2.6GWh of energy storage capacity in Western Australia as part of the broader national initiative, which was recently upsized to 40GW due to its popularity. Policy frameworks are now clearly established following the federal election in May 2025, and investors are showing renewed interest in Australia's energy market, particularly for large-scale projects with long-term revenue certainty. The third annual edition falls at a pivotal point for the discussions to continue exploring major grid expansion projects to accommodate the increasing renewable energy capacity, and ultimately Australia's net zero goals.

The 2026 Summit will delve deeper into the themes driving Australia’s energy transition, including the energy storage roadmap, exploring how much storage is needed to meet Australia’s renewable energy targets and what must be done in the next five years to achieve 10% renewables. It will also focus on grid-forming technologies, unlocking the future of large-scale energy storage and enabling a more resilient and efficient grid. Battery innovation will be a key topic, highlighting advancements in energy density and emerging technologies that will shape the future of grid-scale and distributed storage. Financing and trading will also be explored, reviewing the Capacity Investment Scheme, merchant revenues vs. contracted revenues, and unlocking new revenue streams for energy storage projects.

The Summit will continue to explore state-specific developments and markets, including the role of Renewable Energy Zones in accelerating deployment across the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, ACT and New South Wales. The 2026 Summit will feature more networking opportunities than ever before, including breakout zones, interactive audience sessions, and dedicated time for delegates to connect with industry professionals. The Networking Drinks and Lunch Breaks will provide ample opportunities to forge valuable business partnerships and collaborations.
