HunterNet General Members Meeting – Hosted by Orica

Orica’s Kooragang Island is a major industrial complex that plays a vital role in both the company’s global operations and the New South Wales economy. The site includes an ammonia plant, three nitric acid plants, two ammonium nitrate plants, and a dispatch facility, collectively producing over a million tonnes of chemical products annually for use in mining, agriculture, infrastructure, and medical sectors.

Orica also recently confirmed it is moving ahead with construction of the Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub (HVHH), Australia’s first commercial-scale renewable hydrogen facility which will be located adjacent to its existing operations. The hub will produce renewable hydrogen via electrolysis using recycled water, grid-connected renewable electricity, and a 50MW electrolyser. It will be supplied to Orica’s nearby Kooragang Island (KI) site, replacing a portion of the natural gas currently used as feedstock in the manufacture of ammonia.”

Conditions: Event capacity is strictly 45 attendees. Please be mindful when registering to ensure equal and fair chance for others. If you are unable to attend, please contact the office so the registration can be opened for those waiting. Please be aware that no registration will mean NO entry to the Orica Site. 

PPE Requirements – Long pants, Long sleeve shirt, steel cap boots for entry of site. Steel cap boots compulsory for the site tour along with safety glasses and Hivis Shirt/Jacket or Vest. 

PLEASE NOTE – NO BATTERY OPERATED DEVICES INCLUDING MOBILE PHONES, SMART WATCHES, BATTERY PACKS ECT ARE PERMITTED ON SITE TOUR. Due to site conditions, those will ANY health concerns or conditions will need to report to Orica staff during registration to ensure safety during GMM and Site Tour.
