Life Cycle Lessons: How to Reduce Your Environmental Footprint with Circular Actions

This webinar will explore how applying circular thinking across a product’s life cycle—from design to disposal—can significantly reduce environmental impact.

August boomerang circular

Australians consume more than ever before—yet the full environmental cost of everyday items often goes unseen. From fashion and food to furniture and electronics, each product carries a footprint that extends far beyond the moment of purchase.

This webinar will explore how applying circular thinking across a product’s life cycle—from design to disposal—can significantly reduce environmental impact. We'll unpack strategies for designing out waste, choosing better materials, embracing reuse and repair, and rethinking end-of-life through composting, remanufacturing and recycling innovations.

Join us as we examine real-world examples of circular systems in action—from zero-waste business models and community reuse schemes to local government interventions that are closing the loop. You'll come away with actionable insights and practical tools to reduce your own footprint—whether you're an individual, policymaker, or part of a business ready to shift from linear to circular.

Speakers

Tom Field, Bearhug Wraps
Tom Field is the founder of Bearhug Pallet Wraps, an innovative Sydney-based start-up reimagining the logistics of pallet wrapping with a circular, reusable solution. Inspired by his prior work as a truck driver—where he witnessed the daily disposal of half a kilo of plastic wrap—Tom launched Bearhug in early 2023 to tackle the scale of pallet wrap waste head-on. Bearhug’s wraps are designed for 1,000 reuses or approximately four years of service and are manufactured to be stronger, more cost-effective and ultimately recyclable. Since its launch, the company has scaled rapidly—preventing multiple tonnes of plastic from landfill and gaining support from over 70 businesses across various sectors. Tom’s leadership is marked by innovative systems thinking, including the development of the world’s first pooling model for reusable pallet wraps to streamline return logistics across supply chains.
