MinView Workshop with the Geological Survey of NSW

The Earth Sciences discipline invites you to this special workshop as part of the Earth Sciences Seminar series.

The workshop is free and open to staff and students from all disciplines.

About the workshop

Unlock the power of NSW’s geoscientific information in this hands‑on workshop delivered by staff from the Geological Survey of NSW, showcasing MinView, the state’s flagship web map application that provides free access to view, search and download a comprehensive range of geoscientific data for NSW.

Designed for anyone working with geological or spatial data, the session will demonstrate how MinView streamlines access to essential datasets for a wide range of stakeholders, including geoscientists, planners, environmental professionals, researchers, industry users, and the broader NSW community.

Discover the full breadth of MinView by exploring more than 500 data layers, including the NSW Seamless Geology, high‑resolution geophysical imagery, mineral occurrences, geochronology, drillholes, drillcore inventories, geochemistry, field observations, and much more - revealing the depth and diversity of geoscientific information available across the state.

This workshop will guide you through effective navigation of the MinView interface, advanced search tools, and data download options. You’ll also pick up practical tips and time‑saving tricks, along with real‑world walkthroughs that demonstrate how to extract maximum value from this powerful platform.

Bringing your own laptop to navigate MinView during the workshop is encouraged but not compulsory.

A light lunch will be provided, with an opportunity for networking and discussion following the workshop.
