Net-Zero Strategy: GHG Reporting and Value Creation Short Course
2 Day Workshop: Wed, Nov 4th - Thurs, Nov 5th
Delivery Method: Face to Face
Location: UNSW Sydney, Kensington Campus
Course description:
From January 1, 2025, large Australian companies must report Scope 1 and 2 emissions under mandatory climate disclosure rules, with Scope 3 required from year two; medium-sized firms follow in July 2026. This shift forces organisations to adopt robust, auditable emissions reporting and decarbonisation strategies.
This intensive postgraduate course takes participants on a comprehensive decarbonisation journey – equipping them with the knowledge to
1) quantify Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using the GHG Protocol to fulfill reporting requirements,
2) identify emission hotspots, and
3) transform reporting obligations into strategic opportunities.
Participants will explore how to set realistic and ambitious climate targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), identify and prioritise decarbonisation levers, and create roadmaps that support both regulatory compliance and long-term value creation.
The course also highlights the crucial role of products and supply chains in emissions reduction through Life Cycle Assessment and Product Carbon Footprint methodologies.
With a mix of technical content, best practices, real-world case studies, and applied group work, this course offers a balanced and practical foundation in GHG accounting and strategic decarbonisation tailored to Australia’s business environment.
