An examination of the cost of renewable electricity generation technologies and the innovations that will further reduce costs of project delivery and operation.
About
This event will commence with a review of CSIRO’s Gencost model, before examining the innovations that may continue to reduce cost and improve competitiveness of key renewable electricity generation technologies - wind and solar.

Presenters
Paul Graham, CSIRO
Paul has been Chief Economist of CSIRO’s Energy Flagship for 13 years. In this role he is responsible for advice on the global and national economic context relevant for the energy sector. Prior to this he was a Carbon Futures Theme Leader, also at CSIRO. He started his career as a Senior Research Officer at ABARES.
Peter Cowling, Envision Energy
Peter is Head of Wind Australia at Envision Energy. He was previously Head of Australia at Mint Renewables, Country Head, Australia New Zealand at Vestas, GM, Renewable Sales Asia Pacific at GE Energy, and GM BD/Sales and then COO at Suzlon Energy Australia P/L. Peter has also been Chair of the Clean Energy Council.
Dan Sturrock, ARENA
Dan is General Manager Solar at ARENA, a role in which he leads ARENA’s work across solar technology and represents ARENA on a number of company boards. He has over 25 years experience in investment banking and project finance including the past 15 years working across a range of roles and technologies in the renewable energy sector.
Alice Lang, 5B
Alice is Chief of Staff at 5B. She joined 5B after 5 years at AGL Energy, working first in corporate strategy, then in the future business and technology team on the opportunities needed for Australia's clean energy transition. Her background is in energy strategy, having studied photovoltaic and solar energy engineering at UNSW, and philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford, before joining The Boston Consulting Group.
Carley Beever, Potentia Energy
Carley is proud to lead the retail business at Potentia Energy, a renewable gentailer providing Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers with innovative renewable energy solutions. With more than 20 years’ experience across the energy sector, Carley has worked across all stages of the energy value chain. Prior to joining Potentia Energy, she held commercial and strategy roles at Snowy Hydro, worked in C&I and strategy at Red Energy, and led the connections team at SP AusNet.
