Central-West Orana businesses to prepare for renewable energy supply chain with practical workshop series
A workshop series happening soon across Mudgee, Wellington and Dubbo aims to prepare regional businesses for opportunities in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone by building skills in compliance, tendering and supply chain positioning.

Regional businesses across the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) are being offered a structured way to build their skills and position themselves to compete for work in upcoming renewable energy projects.
The Building Business Capability for Renewable Energy Zones workshops are being delivered in Mudgee, Wellington, and Dubbo through a three-part series designed to help local suppliers improve their understanding of the renewable energy sector, government procurement, and contract management.
Run as part of the Targeted Workforce Development Scheme, the program is supported by the Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development and the NSW Department of Education.
The sessions aim to equip businesses with the tools needed to navigate government processes, meet compliance standards, and prepare tenders for renewable energy contracts.
Each half-day workshop focuses on a different theme:
Workshop 1 – Positioning Your Business in the Renewable Energy Supply Chain – helps businesses assess their current capabilities and understand how to fit into the growing renewable sector. Participants create a tailored “Desired Future State” and an actionable roadmap to guide their next steps.
Workshop 2 – Good Business Practice & Compliance for Renewable Energy Projects – covers key compliance areas such as WHS, environmental and sustainability requirements. Businesses are guided through a self-check process and develop a plan to improve compliance readiness.
Workshop 3 – Tendering & Contract Management for Renewable Energy Projects – focuses on practical steps to prepare tenders, manage contracts, and reduce project risks. Participants work on drafting key parts of a submission and learn how to develop a strong value proposition.
Each session includes access to templates, frameworks, and group discussions, with an emphasis on practical, hands-on learning rather than general presentations.
Interested businesses can also access additional one-on-one coaching and support after completing the series.
Dates for the workshops are as follows:
-
Mudgee: Workshop 1 – 19 May, Workshop 2 – 26 May, Workshop 3 – 2 June
-
Wellington: Workshop 1 – 20 May, Workshop 2 – 27 May, Workshop 3 – 3 June
